Sergey Popov has graduated from Obninsk State University of Nuclear Energetics. He has technical background with wide experience of working at State Scientific Center of Russian Federation Institute of Physics and Power Engineering. Basing on the experience and knowledge which he got while studying at the Institute and working at the State Scientific Center of Russia, Sergey knows the scientific methods of work and research. He has technical background in experiments with the usage of technical equipment and knows scientific methods of research.
While working for LG Electronics RUS as an Assistant Manager QRDA Group, Sergey has learnt the methods of organizing and managing the production quality control processes (he managed the production quality control for washing machines as well as refrigerator’s divisions) and realizing Greenfield Projects.
As he worked at Danfoss RUS at the position of Deputy production director, he was responsible for the realization of productivity improvement projects based on DPP (Danfoss Productivity Program). He also fulfilled the responsibilities of the Project Manager for this program. The program is the analog of Six Sigma System and LEAN. The Project Manager position (Navigator) is an equivalent of the level of the Black Belt in 6 Sigma. Sergey successfully implemented five improvement projects. After the project of improvement and transformation (the project of the transformation of the Russian company into the world class level company), Sergey was transferred onto the position of the Production Director in the Danfoss RUDENR Department (Nizhny Novgorod), when he managed the production plant with the headcount of 150 employees.
Then Sergey got splendid experience of leadership when he worked as the Production Director at Lighting Technologies International group with the headcount of 2, 000 employees and five areas of production such as metal working, assembling, plastic molding, surface mounting technology, aluminum die casting. At this plant Sergey had an opportunity to implement his experience and realize his knowledge in projects of productivity increase in the fields of production, quality and SCM. Throughout his work at this company, Sergey learnt TOC Strategic Solution Way for Improvement.
At present Sergey works as a Factory Manager for internationally known company ABB in Russia which is the first Greenfield Project in Russia where 4 product groups are represented. He is responsible for the whole production module which includes Purchasing, Logistics, Quality, Maintenance Department, Project Engineering Group, Production Support Technology Group, 2 Production Groups, EHS Group. He is also responsible for achieving financial KPIs, CAPEX and OPEX (improvement project realization).
Sergey has a wide expertise in production, quality, SCM and improvement areas based on excellent leadership skills, the knowledge of LEAN and improvement tools which are proven by his experience and improvement projects realized.
